Regular readers will know that we at IP are fans of renewable energy and renewable energy investments.

So it was interesting to read that the IEA (International Energy Agency) predicted that they will become the world’s second largest energy source by 2018.

If this did happen, that would be (in my view) very, very good news for the environment.

However, I’m not so sure that it will happen – many governments seem keen to exploit shale oil and gas reserves, rather then put resources into developing renewable sources of energy.

Nevertheless, its good to see an important agency making the case for renewables and stating that the fundamentals for investment in the sector remain robust.
