IP Account Manager, Caris Ball, has many strings to her bow and along with being a terrific singer, Caris is also a very keen netball player and has played for Walton and Hersham Netball club for several years. The club recently suffered a terrible loss when in February this year, much loved player and umpire Debbie Williams, died tragically after a short battle with cancer.  She spent the last few days of her life in the fantastic care of the Princess Alice Hospice and Caris and fellow player and friend Julie Larcombe decided to honour Debbie’s memory by holding a Charity Netball Rally, raising some much needed funds for the hospice as well.

The Walton and Hersham Fastnet Rally was held at Surbiton High School Sports Ground on Saturday 4th June and the sun shone! Alongside the matches were a gourmet bbq (run by none other than IP MD Guy Tolhurst – Grill King), Pimms tent, Face painting, competitions and raffles along with a Grand Prize Draw.

The 20+ teams all competed under the Fastnet rules – the first time a rally of this kind has been held in the South of England (FastNet is a new set of rules brought in at the world series 2 years ago – it’s a bit like qwick cricket or touch rugby etc) – and overall winners were Tiffin Netball Club.

Along with sponsorship from Race for Life the club raised a staggering £8066 for the hospice! Caris would like to thank all those involved who helped and supported the event, and IP would like to congratulate Caris and Julie on all their hard work in putting together such an amazing occasion for a fantastic cause.
